Landscape lighting FAQs

What transformer do 12V landscape lights need?

All Lightio fixtures run on 12 V AC low-voltage power from a standard landscape lighting transformer. Size the transformer to the total wattage of your fixtures plus roughly 20% headroom — for example, ten 3 W path lights (30 W total) run comfortably on a 60 W transformer. We can spec and supply the right transformer with your order.

What's the difference between 3000K and 4000K?

3000K is a warm white that flatters wood, brick and warm-toned stone — the most popular choice for homes. 4000K is a cooler, crisper white suited to modern architecture, greenery and security-oriented lighting. Lightio fixtures are stocked in both.

Are these lights safe to install myself?

Yes — 12 V low-voltage lighting is safe to handle and in most jurisdictions doesn't require a licensed electrician. The transformer plugs into an exterior GFCI outlet, and fixtures connect to low-voltage cable with simple waterproof connectors.

Can the lights survive Canadian winters?

Yes. Lightio fixtures are die-cast aluminium with IP65–IP67 sealing, rated for -20°C to +40°C operation, and carry a 5-year manufacturer warranty. Recessed and strip fixtures are fully waterproof (IP67).
